Dear Stephen Spielberg

No script. No locations permits. No hair and makeup teams. No studios or networks. No money. Just pure, ridiculous fun. That's what home movies are all about!

I had the privilege of working on a home made video promo with my pals in Enation last weekend. First off, those guys are HILARIOUS, so running around town with a wacky plot left me a bit sore from all the laughing. Second, I can't believe how easy it is nowadays to make home movies look better than a 1990-something blockbuster with nothing but an iPhone and some creativity. Yes, we really did shoot our little adventure using only an iPhone 4.

Now, before I go too much further...If you live in, near, around, underneath, above, or next to any of these places: New York, New Jersey, Connecticut...then you MUST MUST MUST go and see Enation. They are by far one of the best live bands I've ever seen. And not just because they're my friends....for reals. Click HERE to get your tickets.

Anyway, back to the filming and such...I had gotten together with some of the Enation members and talked about how I could help get the word out about their east coast shows, and what we came up with was the aforementioned wacky home video. We sketched out a plot line and improv'd each scene, making way for some truly ROFL moments. It was sometimes difficult not to laugh during the takes, but somehow we managed. We stumbled upon some real "treasures" around town and I cannot wait for you all to see them!

At one point during our filming we decided we needed a tripod. Of course, we didn't have one, so we used only what we had on hand in the car...a microphone stand and duct tape. What else do you expect musicians to keep in their car?

And what would any video be without food? A video without food, I suppose...but not in this case...those boys sure had to eat a lot. I was a little concerned at one point, but they managed to burn it all off by doing their own stunts.

I was also a part of the on camera ordeal in a couple of spots. One of which involved dancing on a street corner with a sign...

By the end of the shoot, we were all exhausted from laughing hysterically and placing our feet in almost every part of Battle Ground, WA, which is a pretty magnificent little city, if you ask me, thus leaving only the editing to be done, which is currently underway.

I used to make videos like this all the time before there was youtube and facebook and twitter. I may be dating myself just a little, but I really do love that we can reach each other through the technology that we have now, and not just by using short text messages or telephones, but by images both still and moving. This is a remarkable day in age to be living in. I hope that you'll stand with me in the place where we never take for granted what we have.

In that light, Enation is also running a contest using their latest song "Salvation of One." Get the details by clicking on the flier below.  And act FAST because the contest ends FRIDAY, JULY 15!And don't worry...you'll get to see the video here soon! :)

Sounds like you guys had a ball. And you convinced me to buy tickets to enations concert on August 6th. I was on the fence because the tickets are ridiculously expensive but i just cant miss the opportunity to see them since it is so rare that they come to the east coast. Any chance you will be joining them on their trip??
