I love working with great people. This recommendation by my friends Gabe Harvison and Levi Warren couldn’t have been a better one to make!

Throw Back Thursday - Film Cameras

I saw a meme recently that showed a variety of pictures we would have never taken with a film camera. A 24 roll of film was just too expensive to take pictures of things like: • food • shoes • the In N Out sign • the giant bug that lives in the corner of your room...

It was funny. ‘Cause it’s true. I actually took photography back in high school and really enjoyed it! I often miss the richness a film camera has, but then I remember that I have photoshop and digital is just way more convenient and all the nostalgia for film cameras goes out the window.

At any rate, I’ve always loved photography, so this is my throw back to film cameras. Thank you for keeping us accountable to not taking the worst pictures known to man kind with your 24 to 36 film exposure counts. We do miss you sometimes. You taught us that lighting and apertures and f-stops are all so important to capturing an image onto a special material that we later transferred onto glossy paper...perhaps I will make a pin hole camera and take some pics in your honor soon. Then again, that sounds like a lot of work.

Until next time,

Take care of your hearts and ears.

Topic Tuesday - Are We A Generation of Idiots?

We’ve all seen that funny meme about Albert Einsteins quote, “I fear the day that technology will surpass our human interaction. The world will have a generation of idiots.”

It is a harsh statement, but is there truth to it? I am glued to my phone/computer...I readily admit that I am one of those who really enjoys the benefit of having technology at my finger tips no matter where I am -- but what has it cost me?

Music Monday - BEFORE THE SHOW

A lot goes into putting on a show. Of course, I won’t divulge all the fun little secrets, because that’s part of the beauty of a LOOKS effortless -- and it should!

Feature Friday

Red Fred Productions

I had the great privilege of doing a photo shoot with the ever lovely, Jessica Clark, of Red Fred Productions a couple weeks ago. This girl is fabulous!

We had talked about doing a shoot for a while and I’m so glad we did! She is the one behind the lense that captured the cover shot for my upcoming EP The Starting Line.

She is also the one who captured some shots at a fundraiser I was privileged to participate in last November.

Now, some people don’t like much direction when they’re having their photo taken, but I actually do better with more direction. Jessica was a true director here! I loved it! She is as concerned with making the photos look good as I was looking good for the photos. She knew what she was looking for and made me feel so very comfortable throughout the shoot. She knew the perfect spot to go too, which is rich with history -- history she is well acquainted with because her husbands family were among the first to settle in that region.

We met in Sauvie Island, OR on the side of a road near a farm. It’s one of her favorite places to shoot, she said. I was grateful to have been able to borrow my friend Rick’s car for the day to use in the shoot! What a beautiful BMW Z4 that is...back to the shoot. It happened to be pouring rain before my best friend and I met up with Jessica. It was a little worrisome but sometimes you go hoping for the best! I was so grateful that it let up long enough for us to get some GREAT shots!

It was fun to joke a bit as cars and bikers drove/rode by, and in less than an hour, we had captured all that could be captured that day and went off to enjoy the rest of the afternoon.

I knew what I’d get back would be pretty amazing, and I definitely was not in the least bit disappointed!

If you’re looking for a great photographer to do some shoots with, I highly recommend
Red Fred Productions!

Until Next Time,

Take care of your hearts & ears!

Throw Back Thursday - CHUCKS

Shoes are such a funny thing. "Carrie Bradshaw" says that shoes can tell a lot about a person...I say shoes can either make you feel blissful or ruin your effing day.

Throw Back Thursday

P.O.D. may not be a huge name now, but there was a time in the early 2000s that they seemed to be the name on everyone’s lips.

A few short years before that, they were a little known band in the underground Christian Music Scene. How do I know this? Well, because I had the special privilege of being in a band that opened for them a few times, as well as other underground Christian Bands like Five Iron Frenzy, Dogwood, Chasing Furies, Stavesacre, and even Jars of Clay.

Topic Tuesday - Stand Up For Yourself

Kelly Clarkson recently tweeted about a memoir that famed music mogul Clive Davis is publishing, painting her in a rather negative light. Kelly made a bold move upon discovering this and rebutted the various situations Mr. Davis penned as a twisting of the truth.

Music Monday - Honors In Music

Evidence increasingly supports the long held belief that music is an important factor in all of our lives. Music can change moods, inspire thoughts and movement, and help us advance in spatial reasoning and mathematics. Even so, many music and art programs are being cut in schools across the United States. The funding simply isn’t there. Whatever the reasoning for this, the evidence supports the need for music, specifically, in our lives. It’s more than just a fun idea for a career, it can literally change your life.
