P.O.D. may not be a huge name now, but there was a time in the early 2000s that they seemed to be the name on everyone’s lips.
A few short years before that, they were a little known band in the underground Christian Music Scene. How do I know this? Well, because I had the special privilege of being in a band that opened for them a few times, as well as other underground Christian Bands like Five Iron Frenzy, Dogwood, Chasing Furies, Stavesacre, and even Jars of Clay.
What’s unique about P.O.D. is that I also worked for a CD manufacturing broker that handled their CD shipments. I remember counting their boxes of CDs during inventory checks and shipping them out when orders came through.
It wasn’t long before they exploded and everyone was singing along about feeling “alive for the very first time.” It’s amazing what you’ll find when you’re looking back on your journey.
Here’s a picture of me at 15 with my Christian ska band, No Supastar, performing at the infamous Roxy on the Sunset Strip in Hollywood, CA.
Oh the memories.
Until next time,
Take care of your hearts & ears!
