Tipsy Thrusday

What do Kylie Minogue, Sheryl Crow, and Melissa Etheridge all have in common? Yes, yes, I know, they’re all singers, but that’s not what we’re getting at here. They all were diagnosed with breast cancer before the age of 45. In fact, Kylie Minogue was only 36 years old when she was diagnosed! These are very public figures, who take very good care of themselves, which means, it really is worth it to keep an eye on our bodies and make sure to catch abnormalities before it’s too late!

There are so many stories out there. So many victories, and so many losses. It breaks all of our hearts, but it is a reality of our world. Every one of us carries cancer cells within our bodies, and we never know what will trigger that perfect storm to set them loose to wreak the devastating havoc we are all too familiar with.

Today’s Tipsy Thursday is dedicated to joining this months effort in bringing awareness to breast cancer. There are plenty of resources out there to explain how to do self examinations such as this one by the National Breast Cancer Foundation.

Ladies, this is a simple way to pay attention to our bodies, specifically our breast health, and try to catch something out of the ordinary. Let’s think of it like checking the pressure in your tires, or changing the oil in your car. It’s routine maintenance. Giving our bodies the same treatment is a preventative measure. Sometimes we don’t always catch the issue, but we increase our chances significantly if we’re paying attention and know what to look for.

We all want the best life we can possibly have. So, let’s live that way. Here is to all of you, who have fought this fight in one way or another.

Until Next Time,

Take care of yourself.
